I'll overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer will face the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be shown in real-time on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the two fighters came face-to-face to publicize the upcoming boxing match.

Former two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth mismatch - at Miami's arena on December 19th.

Fighter's Attitude

"I'm going to break his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I will really want to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."

Civil Interaction

In spite of these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - usually known for his showmanship - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul instead attacked former Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian rejected a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, criticized UK opponent Tyson Fury - and refused a large bet 'Tyson Fury' states he will put on a Paul win.

"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer stated.

"I give him credit for that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of stating he plans to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua chose not to speak negatively about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mainly boxed MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.

He lost to Briton Fury in last year.

Financial Attraction

However, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's largest financial successes, consistently making massive paydays.

Prediction and Belief

The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in round four or five and asserted he would stop the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"The next fight will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul said.

Physical Disparity

As Joshua and Paul engaged in the traditional confrontation, with their size difference clearly visible, it drove home just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is really going ahead.
